Case Study: Famo Sandwich Creations

Local Toronto Chef Babak Fahmi first approached The Fifteen Group in 2014, with a sandwich shop concept that would offer unique sandwich combinations from fresh ingredients that aren’t typically paired together. Fahmi was used to creating dishes at home with beef tongue, beef cheek, and other less common types of meat and fish. He saw an opportunity to bring these unique flavour combinations to the Toronto market, to offer diners a unique quick-service sandwich experience. The name FAMO is a combination of Fahmi and his wife Shabnam Moier’s last names.

FAMO leveraged our Restaurant Opening Handholding program, and development was a two-year project led by Fifteen Group Consultant, Tyler Fraser. Finding an ideal downtown Toronto location was a year-long process, with space construction and design accounting for another six months. The Fifteen Group was very involved in the development of the restaurant operation from beginning to opening day.

FAMO has been named by BlogTO as one of the TOP 10 Restaurant Openings for 2016. The Lamb Sandwich was named one of Toronto’s TOP 50 Sandwiches. They restaurant has also received positive reviews by The Toronto SunNarcity.comBlogTO, and many other restaurant media outlets.
